Prize Ceremony “Willy Brandt Student Competition on Democracy and Civic Courage”

The international travelling exhibition will be in Oslo from 12 November 2021 to 11 February 2022. Together with Tyksforum (the Norwegian German Teachers’ Association) and the Norwegian-German Willy Brandt foundation, the “Willy Brandt Student Competition on Democracy and Civic Courage” was established for Norwegian pupils under the patronage of the German Ambassador to Norway Alfred Grannas. More than 22 schools from all over Norway took part and submitted a total of 74 projects, including posters, videos and audios. A great result! The jury will meet on 10 November to select the winners.

The award ceremony will take place on 7 December 2021 at the Norwegian-German Willy Brandt Foundation’s anniversary event for the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Willy Brandt. The award ceremony will take place in the auditorium of the University of Oslo, the very place where Willy Brandt received his Nobel Peace Prize award 50 years ago.

Speeches by Dr. Wolfram Hoppenstedt (Managing Director of the Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt Foundation) and Andrea Vaske (Chairperson of the Board of the Norwegian German Teachers’ Association “Tyskforum”).

Prize presentation by Ambassador Alfred Grannas, patron of the competition.
